Book a fishing guide in Oregon for salmon, sturgeon, and walleye.

Do you ask yourself, How do I book a Guide?

What do I expect from the fishing guides?

What does the fishing guide expect from me?

where does the guided fishing trip take place?

In this article, I will answer some frequently asked questions about booking a fishing guide so you can be prepared for your upcoming guided fishing trip.

Question one: how does a person book a fishing guide?

If you’re looking for a fishing guide, you can find them in a variety of ways. If you do a web search, be sure to check the guide’s website and social media. Also, check out reviews of their services, but don’t focus on the negative ones. Remember, most guides take over 200 fishing trips a year, and it’s hard to please everyone.

When you are looking for a fishing guide, be sure to read a handful of the reviews and form your own opinion of the guide before you call him.

When you are looking for a fishing guide, be sure to ask how long he’s been in business. Also, try to get a sense of whether this is someone you would enjoy spending a day with on a boat.

If all sounds good, book a fishing trip with him.

Question 2: What can I expect from a fishing guide?

When you book a guide, you can count on a safe fishing boat that meets all US Coast Guard and Oregon State Marine Board safety requirements. Your guide will also have top-quality fishing gear and bait ready for you when you arrive at the marina. While there are no guarantees in fishing, most guides will promise to work hard to put you on the fish.

As a  guide, I love being on the water. I love helping my clients catch fish. And I love the challenge of finding the fish and putting them in the boat. I guarantee that I want fish in the boat more than you do, and I’ll work hard to make this happen. I’ll do everything I can to find the fish and get them in the boat. I’ll work with you to find the best fishing spots and the best baits and lures to use. I’ll work with you to ensure that you have a great day on the water.

Question 3: What does the fishing guide expect from me?

A  guide will expect you to have your fishing license, appropriate clothing for the day, and your food, drink, or any snacks that you might like to have for the day.

The  guides will also expect you to arrive at the marina on time and ready to go.

Most fishing guide will ask for a small deposit to reserve your day. However, sometimes there may not be a deposit required, usually, this is done with all fishing trips.

Question 4: Where does this guided fishing trip take place?

When you book a fishing trip, the location of the trip will vary depending on where the salmon and sturgeon are migrating. Generally, the Columbia and Willamette Rivers are good places to fish. Your guide will let you know the exact meeting location a day or two before the trip.

Typically, your guide will suggest a few potential meeting spots to consider, and then, one or two days prior to the trip, they will contact you with the precise location. This ensures you have the best chance of a successful fishing experience.

If you need to cancel your fishing trip, please give your guide as much notice as possible. A last-minute cancellation can hurt your guide, as he may have turned down other clients to accommodate you. Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to leave them in the comments below.
