Sturgeon fishing around The Dalles, Oregon, is very popular, with plenty of action and sturgeon up to 10 and 12 feet long. However, sturgeon is mostly a catch-and-release fishery. We do get a small season in January to harvest sturgeon on the Columbia River, with a very tight size limit.

Walleye fishing is practically year-round, although it can be extremely tough in the winter when the water is cold, and the wind is blowing in the Columbia Gorge.
