You’ve decided to book a fishing trip with Marvin’s Guide Service in Astoria, Oregon. Now your question is: Where do I stay the night before? In this article, I’m going to put together a small list of hotels and motels that will meet your needs if you’re coming down to fish with me during the famous Buoy 10 salmon fishery in the late summer or to catch limits of fresh crab in the fall.

South Jetty Inn, Hammond,Oregon

Location: 984 Pacific Dr., Hammond, OR 97121

Information: Website or 503-861-8868

When salmon fishing, I like to use the Hammond Marina. Right next door here in Hammond, which is just a little bit west of Astoria, you’ll find this little hotel called the South Jetty Inn.

The nice thing here is that South Jetty Inn Hotel is within walking distance (5 minutes) to the Hammond Marina. That’s a huge advantage early in the morning, so you don’t have to fight the crowds and find and pay for parking to go fishing.

A few other attractions when staying at the South Jetty Inn are that you’ll be within walking distance or a short drive to Fort Stevens State Park and Lewis & Clark National Historical Park.
