Columbia River will close for Spring Chinook Salmon on Friday April 12th, and I have not heard if they will extend it again or not.
Willamette River continues to be open for Springers 7 days a week with a 2 fish limit. With the Columbia River closing, I will be salmon fishing in the lower part of the Willamette River. I like to fish from the Fremont Bridge, down river, to the mouth at the Columbia and Kelly Point.
The last few days the lower Willamette River has started to see more and more fish move in, and I look forward to the fishing just to improve over the next week, especially with the recent rains.
Sturgeon fishing remains catch and release on the Willamette River. There has been a lot of action with Sturgeon on the Willamette River with nice size quality fish being caught.
Sturgeon fishing on the Columbia River is improving! As I was out there last Saturday, we had 45 small fish and a nice keeper Sturgeon. Fishing will only get better for Sturgeon over the next few weeks and into May as we start seeing the Shad move up the River, followed by bigger sturgeon.
