Today I had 2 guys on the boat Brandon and Mike. We met up at Chinook landing, which is in Troutdale at 6:30 am.
I headed up the Columbia River to the rooster rock area.
We anchored the boat in about 65 ft of water. It was a little cool in the morning when we got there, but as the sun came up on the Columbia River it got nicer and nicer.
And finally, about 6-7 small sturgeon Brandon gets a Sturgeon on. We can tell it is way bigger than the other ones.
When we finally landed it, the sturgeon was a 52-inch keeper sturgeon.
As the day went on, we kept catching small sturgeon. So, I decided to go up the Columbia River a few miles.
We anchored the boat in about 40ft of water. On the first cast out mike got a 45-inch keeper sturgeon.
We fished about another hour just catching small ones. Then we decided to call it a day.
All and all it was a good day on the Columbia River for sturgeon fishing.
