What to Fish for on the Columbia River Portland Oregon!

First of all, we have Salmon, Steelhead, Sturgeon, Walleye and bass. These are some of the most targeted fish in the Portland Oregon areamon the Columbia River.

In my next few blogs, we will talk a little bit about each one of these fish that are on the Columbia River.

But since I’m gearing up for Sturgeon now let’s start with them.

May and June are my favorite times of year to fish. There is lots of action from Sturgeon being 20 inches up to 12 foot long.

I do most of my Sturgeon fishing right below Bonneville dam. It is Pretty cool catching a 500-pound fish only a half hore hour away hour from Portland.

Although You cannot keep these giant fish it is a thrill that you will never ever forget.

In my 24 years of being a fishing guide I still get excited and getting a thrill out of these MONSTERS!!

Although if you prefer to keep a sturgeon, we only get a few days here and there.
Be sure to check with https://www.dfw.state.or.us/fish/Oregon fish and wildlife to see when and where the sturgeon may be kept.

I believe Sturgeon is one of the best tasting fish around.

Now look for my next blog and we will talk a little about Steelhead, or salmon, or Walley fishing.

feel free to call me email me or text me, I’m always happy to talk about fishing.
