Crabbiing on the lower Columbia River near the mouth of the river near Astoria, Oregon, in October, November, and December is a fun activity for all ages.

Limits of 12 crabs per person are usually easy to come by.

Marvins Guide Service also offers Salmon fishing, sturgeon fishing, walleye fishing, and even rockfish.

What marina should I use when crabbing the Columbia River.

I’m using the port in Hammond, Oregon, to do my crab trips.  Hammond is just east of Astoria, Oregon. Read more about Hammond, Oregon, here.

What do you need for a guided crabbing trip?

All you need when you book a crabbing charter with Marvin is a currunt shel fish license. You would also need a cooler in your car to take your crab home.

How do I cook crab?

After you have limits on crab, there is a place at the Hammond marina called Big Game Fishing that will cook the crab for you for a little fee.

I recommend Big Game Fishing to cook for you, as taking dozens of crabs home can be a smelly mess in your kitchen. But you are more than welcome to take it home if you like.
