My steelhead boat is an 18-foot flat-bottom Alumaweld powered by a 115 jet outboard. This boat is built for shallow-water river fishing and gives me the flexibility to fish water that is better suited for steelhead trips.
The smaller jet boat allows for better maneuverability, shallow-water access, and efficient fishing on rivers where a larger boat is not the right tool. It is a strong setup for targeting summer steelhead, winter steelhead, and other river fisheries throughout Oregon.
Having two boats allows me to choose the best boat for the fishery. My larger 27-foot Alumaweld Intruder is great for Columbia River, ocean, salmon, sturgeon, and walleye trips, while the 18-foot jet boat gives me a better platform for many steelhead waters.
