Well the season is set For the 2010 Spring Salmon season On the Columbia River Like it or not!

With experts saying that the Columbia River is going to have the best run of Spring salmon since 1938, I am looking forward to great salmon fishing in the Portland Oregon area. Let me tell you last year we had plenty of action, and expecting more this year, WOW!!!!

Here are a few ways to fish for Walleye on the Columbia River in Portland Oregon.

One way is with a bottom walker and a worm harness. Troll down river very slow. Remember the saying, “if you are not hanging up you are not fishing for Walleye.” I like to fish in 8 to 20 feet of water with a rocky bottom.

The other day I had to take my boat to the shop because it was running bad. I took it to Cascade Marine.

While I was there. Cascade Marine showed me what was wrong with the boat. I saw how much water had accumulated in the gas tank. When the tech took off the screw on water fuel separator and dumped it into a clear container.

If you looking to do some Sturgeon fishing this weekend, you should have some good luck.

With warmer water this week, Sturgeon fishing as been good for both keepers and shakers.

Steelhead fishing on the Jon day river in November for steelhead should be great!

There were record runs of steelhead over the dam this summer, so that should be great fishing!

The steelhead we are fishing in November are summer steelhead.

Catching Dungeness Crab on the Oregon Coast is a year-round sport in the estuaries, coastal rivers and tidal bays.
The best weather to go in is mild to sunny weather. Sustained rains bring fresh water. They are salt-water creatures and heavy rains force them out to sea because of the sudden lack of salt water.

Time to Start fishing Tillamook Bay for King Salmon. Don’t forget to put some crab pots in the water.

I like to drop my crab pots on the north side of the south jetty.

Then I start to salmon fish on the bar right by the coast guard tower.

The Fall Salmon fishing on the Columbia river begins in August at bouy 10 which is at the mouth of the Columbia river and runs through mid-October.
