Sturgeon fishing 2017
January has been real tough with all the ice and snow. It has been very difficult to get out. As of January 18th 2017 I have not made it up the Gorge yet to start the keeper sturgeon fishery. This fishery is done in the Bonneville pool.
I have managed to get out a few times on the Willamette River for some exciting action of catch and release sturgeon. Some of these sturgeon have been ranging between four and seven feet long.
It’s looking like we’re going to get a break in the weather and I will start heading up to the Hood River and Cascade Locks area to start the keeper sturgeon fishery within the next week.
I don’t expect the sturgeon season in the Bonneville pool to last much into February.
If you’re looking to put some fresh sturgeon in your freezer I have a covered and heated boat and can get you hooked up.
We catch sturgeon year around. In May, June, and July the average size Sturgeon is five to ten foot long. However this is a catch and release fishery.
Call me today whether you want to fish for Salmon, Surgeon, Steelhead, Walleye , Lingcod and a variety of bottom fish we will be sure to get you hooked up!
