What to Fish for on the Columbia River in Portland Oregon

by Marvin on May.02, 2009, under Columbia River, Fishing Guide, General, Salmon, Sturgeon, Walleye

First of all we have Salmon, Steelhead, Sturgeon, Walleye and bass. These are some of the most targeted fish in the Portland Oregon area.

In my next few blogs we will talk a little bit about each one of these fish.

But since i am gearing up for Sturgeon now lets start with them.

May and June are my favorite times of year to fish. There is lots of action from Sturgeon being 20 inches up to 12 foot long.

I do most of my Sturgeon fishing right below Bonneville damn. It is Pretty cool catching a 500 pound fish only a half hour away from Portland.

Although You cannot keep these giant fish it is a thrill that you will never ever forget.

In my 11 years of being a fishing guide I still get excited and getting a thrill out of these MONSTERS!!

Although if you prefer to keep a sturgeon, You need to fish on Thursday Friday Or Saturday.

I believe Sturgeon is one of the best tasting fish around.

Now look for my next blog and we will talk a little about Steelhead.
