Salmon Fishing Columbia River opens Back up

Columbia River opens back up for Spring Salmon fishing tomorrow April 8th, it will be open lintel April 15th.
With the Columbia River running fast, I would suggest anchoring instead of trolling.

A Few Tip’s On anchoring For Salmon

When anchoring for Chinook salmon it is all about having a good location. Salmon swim up river in lanes. So if you are anchored and see other boats catching salmon
, and your not, sound out the area, and get a good idea of the depth they are in, then try to duplicate it in a nearby area.
Spring Salmon Fishing 2011

With Oregon fish and wildlife saying that the Willamette River is going to have 104,100 spring Chinook this season. I am looking forward to great salmon fishing on the Willamette River. Let me tell you last year we had plenty of action, and expecting it to be good this year also, WOW!!!!
Registered Oregon Fishing Guide

There are a lot of fishing guides in Oregon. There are several who claim to be guides, however,they are not registered with the Marine board, just a word of caution. Know who your guides are!
Before you book your next fishing trip make sure your guide is registered, and they have met all the necessary state registration requirements.
How to Catch Giant Sturgeon on the Columbia River

Here is how Marvin’s Guide Service fishes for Giant Sturgeon on the Columbia River. Fishing starts in May for the great white Sturgeon. I fish on the Columbia River below Bonneville Dam,on the dead line which is a few miles down river from the fishery.
I like to fish in about 50 feet of water, the river is moving fast this time of year so be extra careful, have plenty of rope out.

Here are my top 3 places for Spring Salmon on the Columbia river in the Portland Oregon area.
One of the first places I like to fish for Spring salmon is on the Columbia River, trolling between the 205 bridge and the I 5 Bridge. This area has become very popular the last few years. So if you plan on fishing here, you better get your boat in the river Early in the morning.

I have found they bite very soft in the winter, That is why when I fish for them I use a lighter fishing pole.
