Marvin’s Guide Service will be offering crab fishing trips in November, December and January.
We will be crab fishing ether Tillamook Bay on the Oregon Coast or on the lower Columbia River off the Oregon and Washington Coasts, depending on weather conditions. If we go to Tillamook Bay, we would meet at the Garibaldi Marina in Garibaldi, Oregon. If we’re on the lower Columbia River, we meet at the Hammond Marina in Hammond, Oregon.
Willamette River Sturgeon Season 2012
by Marvin on Jan.17, 2012, under Sturgeon, Willamette
Well people Oregon fish and wildlife set the Sturgeon season for the Willamette River today.
I don’t like it, but what can I do? We only get 4 days of Sturgeon fishing on the Willamette river.
Sturgeon retention season on the Lower Willamette River (including Multnomah Channel and the Gilbert River) will be open Feb. 17-18 and Feb. 24-25 2012
Above Bonneville Dam Sturgeon
by Marvin on Dec.04, 2011, under Columbia River, Sturgeon
Sturgeon fishing above Bonneville Dam will open January 1, 2012. Sturgeon retention is allowed 7 day’s a week until the quota of Sturgeon are caught.
If you are looking to put some fresh Sturgeon in your freezer you want to go in January or early February. I don’t expect Sturgeon fishing above Bonneville Dam to stay open very long. Sturgeon must be between 38 and 54 inches to be able to keep them. You are allowed to keep one Sturgeon a day, but you may continue to catch and release after you have tagged your Sturgeon.

Columbia River Fishing Report 7-22-11
by Marvin on Jul.23, 2011, under Columbia River
Here is a quick fishing report for the Columbia River from Marvin’s Guide Service.
Steelhead fishing has been good on the Columbia River in the Gorge, red on red number 5 blade has been a good bet for summer Steelhead. I have been fishing the top half of the shad rack in around 9 foot of water, water is very fast so please be extra careful when you drop or pull your anchor up.
Sturgeon Reopen Above Bonneville Dam
by Marvin on Jun.27, 2011, under Columbia River, Sturgeon
Oregon and Washington agreed to reopen Bonneville Pool, for Sturgeon fishing, this is the section of the Columbia River between Bonneville Dam and The Dalles Dams, for two three-day periods. The first Sturgeon season will start on June 30, July 1 and July 2, and the second Sturgeon season is from July 7-9. after the July 9 date, the reservoir will again close to sturgeon retention for the remainder of the year. This reopening was possible because about 400 fish remain on the Bonneville Pool guideline from the winter fishing season.
