Salmon fishing Portland Oregon

Now that the Chinook Salmon season is shut down on the Columbia River below Tongue Point, and I have to say there was some great Salmon fishing down there, it is time to start doing some salmon fishing in the Portland, Oregon, area.
Columbia River Buoy 10 Salmon fishing

It is open – the crazy fishery on the mouth of the Columbia River Buoy 10 King Salmon fishing. You should be excited about this one, I know I am. With big numbers of Chinook salmon, one of the best returns since 2004 predicted this year and a great run of Sliver Salmon it will be a wild time with lots of hook ups.
Columbia River Fishing Report 7-22-11

Here is a quick fishing report for the Columbia River from Marvin’s Guide Service.
Steelhead fishing has been good on the Columbia River in the Gorge, red on red number 5 blade has been a good bet for summer Steelhead. I have been fishing the top half of the shad rack in around 9 foot of water, water is very fast so please be extra careful when you drop or pull your anchor up.
Sturgeon Reopen Above Bonneville Dam

Oregon and Washington agreed to reopen Bonneville Pool, for Sturgeon fishing, this is the section of the Columbia River between Bonneville Dam and The Dalles Dams, for two three-day periods. The first Sturgeon season will start on June 30, July 1 and July 2, and the second Sturgeon season is from July 7-9. after the July 9 date, the reservoir will again close to sturgeon retention for the remainder of the year. This reopening was possible because about 400 fish remain on the Bonneville Pool guideline from the winter fishing season.

Fall Chinook Salmon Return Columbia River

Columbia River is expected to have at least 760,000 Fall Chinook Salmon return this year! With numbers like that, plus the big numbers of Coho Salmon, it’s going to be a wild year of fishing for Salmon. You don’t want miss out on this great fishery.

Willamette River Salmon fishing has still been good in the harbor area, both bait and spinners are catching Chinook Salmon.
