We will be fishing for King Salmon and Coho Salmon on the Columbia River. Experts say it will be another great run of fall Salmon up the Columbia River.

I like to troll for Salmon. I use a Delta Diver and a flasher and troll with the tides. I like to troll with Herring on a few rods, and I also like to troll with hardware on a few rods.

king Salmon can get up to 50 pounds, with 30 being the average. Coho Salmon get up to 20 pounds with 12 to 15 pounds being the average.

Astoria Oregon is a great place to be in August not only is there great Salmon fishing on the Oregon coast, there are plenty of things to do and I am sure your family will have fun.
Call Marvin’s Guide Service today and get in on the action.

The steelhead fishing on the Columbia River has been really good. I have been fishing at the oak tree in about 10 or 12 feet of water.

A red spinner blade has been the hot one for me. had some good luck on a blue one to.

There has been a few boats there so if you want the hot spot get there early.

Now for the Sturgeon fishing on the Columbia river. the fishing has been pretty hot.
with plenty of small Sturgeon. There are even some keeper sturgeon.
If you can find a floater shad you are almost sure you will hook up on a big sturgeon.

Don’t forget about Salmon fishing at buoy 10 the mouth of the Columbia river in August.
we are going to have a record run of salmon up the Columbia River this year.

Marvin’s Fishing Guide Service still has a few days left open for Buoy 10.
see you all on the River soon.
We started out fishing for steelhead, Fishing was kind of slow

We did catch a Steelhead but we had to let it go because it was a wild one.
We also lost one steelhead.

About 9 am we decided to go Sturgeon fishing.
so we headed down the Columbia river about 5 miles to horse tail falls.
The wind was blowing pretty hard so it was a rough ride down.
I got set up in 50 feet of water.

we got 6 or 7 small ones.
When all the sudden the 10 year old set the hook and said owe daddy this is a big one!

Well the ten year old battled it for about 15 minutes or so.
Then mom took over.
Mom is tough She puled on the pole she did not give this Big Sturgeon any slack
The battle was on for about 20 min or so when she had to give the rod up.

Now Mike has the pole and he is battling out with this fish.
We get the sturgeon right up to the boat 3 or 4 times
before we Finley can take the hook out of this big 9 foot 400 pound fish.
it was about a hour fight.
all 3 people on my boat were tired.
I will have some picture on this post soon so please check back to see.
