Today I had 3 people fishing for sturgeon on the Columbia river!
None of these guys ever fished for sturgeon before
.
We left the dock at Troutdale and went up the Columbia river to Roster Rock
.
I put are line out, with smelt and sand shrimp.

What you need to know to catch Columbia River Sturgeon.
I like to use a ugly stick rod. With a pen gti 320 with 100 pound tuff line.
I use a slider for my weight the to my hook witch is a size 10.
I use 130 pound leader. I like my leader to be about 4 foot long.

A Day of Sturgeon Fishing On the River

Today was a family day on the river.the kids and I launched the boat at 33rd in marine drive at about 8am.
I decided to take the kids for a day of catch and release sturgeon fishing.
So we headed down river and started fishing at kelly point park.We caught a few small sturgeon,Not much going on.

The most popular size on the Columbia river are K14.k15 and k16.
In recent years luhr jensen has added the new kwikfish x-treme 13x and 16x
witch are available in lighted versions.
I like to wrap my lure with a sardine. Or even sand shrimp.
You can troll with this or just let it sit on the bottom with a lead.
