Portland Oregon fishing

With May just around the corner and being in Portland,Oregon it is time to start thinking about Sturgeon fishing on the Columbia River.

May is also a great time to do Salmon fishing on the lower Willamette River. You could even do a half day of Salmon fishing on the Willamette then do the second half of the day Sturgeon fishing on the Columbia River.

A Few Tip’s On anchoring For Salmon

When anchoring for Chinook salmon it is all about having a good location. Salmon swim up river in lanes. So if you are anchored and see other boats catching salmon, and your not, sound out the area, and get a good idea of the depth they are in, then try to duplicate it in a nearby area.

Spring Salmon Fishing 2011

With Oregon fish and wildlife saying that the Willamette River is going to have 104,100 spring Chinook this season. I am looking forward to great salmon fishing on the Willamette River. Let me tell you last year we had plenty of action, and expecting it to be good this year also, WOW!!!!

Tips On Knot Tying

With Columbia River Spring salmon coming up soon here is a few tips on tying a good knot when Fishing.

Before you pull the knot tight wet the line, this will help to lubricate the line, and also help with abrasion and it will make the line easier to pull the line together

How To Store Monofilament Line Properly

How I store monofilament line

I store my line either still in the package spool or on the reel. Always in a cool dark dry place. I try to avoid storing my line were it can be exposed to the sun.
