by Marvin on Jul.23, 2011, under Columbia River
Here is a quick fishing report for the Columbia River from Marvin’s Guide Service.
Steelhead fishing has been good on the Columbia River in the Gorge, red on red number 5 blade has been a good bet for summer Steelhead. I have been fishing the top half of the shad rack in around 9 foot of water, water is very fast so please be extra careful when you drop or pull your anchor up.
Sturgeon Reopen Above Bonneville Dam
by Marvin on Jun.27, 2011, under Columbia River, Sturgeon
Oregon and Washington agreed to reopen Bonneville Pool, for Sturgeon fishing, this is the section of the Columbia River between Bonneville Dam and The Dalles Dams, for two three-day periods. The first Sturgeon season will start on June 30, July 1 and July 2, and the second Sturgeon season is from July 7-9. after the July 9 date, the reservoir will again close to sturgeon retention for the remainder of the year. This reopening was possible because about 400 fish remain on the Bonneville Pool guideline from the winter fishing season.

Willamette River Salmon fishing has still been good in the harbor area, both bait and spinners are catching Chinook Salmon.
With the high water you just need to clean your line of a little more often to make sure your bait or lure is working good.

With May just around the corner and being in Portland,Oregon it is time to start thinking about Sturgeon fishing on the Columbia River.
May is also a great time to do Salmon fishing on the lower Willamette River. You could even do a half day of Salmon fishing on the Willamette then do the second half of the day Sturgeon fishing on the Columbia River.

by Marvin on Apr.07, 2011, under Columbia River, Salmon
Columbia River opens back up for Spring Salmon fishing tomorrow April 8th, it will be open lintel April 15th.
With the Columbia River running fast, I would suggest anchoring instead of trolling.
