by Marvin on Apr.24, 2009, under Columbia River, Fishing Guide, General, Salmon, Sturgeon, Walleye

Today I had 2 guys on the boat Brandon and Mike.We met up at Chinook landing,Which is in Troutdale at 6:30 am.

I headed up the Columbia river to the rooster rock area.

We anchored the boat in about 65 ft of water. It was a little cool in the morning when we got there,But as the sun came up on the Columbia river it got nicer and nicer.

And Finally about 6-7 small sturgeon Brandon gets a Sturgeon on. We can tell it is wayyyy bigger than the other ones.

When we finally landed it it was a 52 inch keeper sturgeon.

As the day went on we kept catching small sturgeon. So I decided to go up the Columbia river a few miles.

We anchored the boat in about 40ft of water. On the first cast out mike got a 45 inch keeper sturgeon.

We fished about another hour just catching small ones. Then we decided to call it a day.

All and all it was a good day on the Columbia river for sturgeon fishing..
